2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel Posts Impressive Gas Mileage Numbers in Road Test

When most Grand Rapids residents think of pickup trucks, one of the last things they think about is excellent fuel economy. However, Dodge is aiming to change that negative perception of pickup trucks with the new 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel. Although usually not mentioned with smaller gas-sipping sedans and hybrids when talking about green vehicles, the EcoDiesel is taking pickup trucks a huge step forward when it comes to fuel-saving technology.

Although the EPA fuel economy ratings are not available for the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel quite yet, in a recent Motor Trend test, the truck achieved 28 miles per gallon on the highway. The revolutionary 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine is the same one used in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, and despite its environmentally-friendly gas mileage, it's no slouch when it comes to power. It produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-per-foot of torque, and is the only diesel engine offered in a half-ton truck this year.

For drivers in Grand Rapids, RAM 1500 EcoDiesel represents game-changing truck technology. The car magazine's complete gas mileage numbers were 22 miles per gallon combined (city and highway) gas mileage for the rear-wheel-drive model and 19 miles combined for the all-wheel-drive model. The tested models were equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is the only option.

In addition to the great gas mileage it produces, here at our dealership, we are proud to say that the EcoDiesel also puts out lower carbon dioxide emissions and is B20 Biodiesel-capable, which produces less air pollutants and less greenhouse gas emissions. Here at Courtesy Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Grand Rapids, we now have the game-changing 2014 RAM EcoDiesel in our new vehicle inventory, so stop on by for a test drive.
