Courtesy Pays Homage to the History of Jeep

May was a major milestone for one iconic car maker as this month marked the production of the one millionth Jeep model. The historic event occurred in Ohio at the Chrysler Group's Toledo Assembly Complex. So our Courtesy dealership in Grand Rapids wanted to use our blog to pay homage to this classic vehicle that is so much a part of American driving culture.

Wondering which car was the actual number one millionth to cross the production line? It was a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon made for the model's 10th anniversary. That seems fitting, as the Wrangler model has become synonymous with the patriotic and rugged image of Jeep.

Moments in Jeep History:
  • The Jeep gains its rugged reputation as a go-anywhere vehicle in World War II
  • Jeep Cherokee makes its debut as a full sized SUV in 1974; it resembles the Wagoneer
  • A variety of Jeep Wrangler models demand attention as the essential off-road vehicle, for decades
  • The Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition marks the one millionth Jeep model

Of course, that is a remarkably shortened version of the Jeep company's rich history. What may be most remarkable is the Jeep Wrangler and its models, like the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in our Grand Rapids showroom, remain so steadfastly beloved and popular.

Are you a Jeep devotee already? Or do you need to sit behind the wheel of one of the new Jeep models to get a feeling for why this entire brand has such a loyal following? Find out by taking on for a spin at Courtesy in Grand Rapids, MI today.
