Chrysler Group Receives Company of the Year Innovation Award

Here at Courtesy Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM, we don't need to read about the awards given to Chrysler to know what a great company it is. Their new vehicles speak for themselves, but it is still an honor to hear about the recognition that the company gets from award-granting agencies. The newest trophy in the huge coffer at Chrysler headquarters is the Company of Year Innovation Award, given by the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

This award was just created in 2013 to “recognize a new corporate method, initiative or process to accelerate and positively impact minority supplier development.” Chrysler was chosen as the recipient for this award largely in part to its High Focus Supplier Program. Since 1983, Chrysler LLC has purchased more than $50 billion from minority-owned suppliers. Since its establishment in 2011, the High Focus program has attempted to take supplier with greater potential for diverse spend and equips them with the products and support the diversity targets.

In addition to making great cars such as Chrysler 300 Grand Rapids buyers are raving about, Chrysler has another diversity program known as the Matchmaker program. Also designed to expand opportunities for minority suppliers, the Matchmaker program provides woman-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned businesses access to Chrysler's Tier 1 supplies. This program has generated over $2 billion in new business opportunities for exhibitors since 2000. It's also the premier networking trade event in the business and attractive over 270 participants to this year's networking conference.

Here at our dealership, we are pleased to hear about Chrysler’s initiatives to help out minority suppliers. Of course Chrysler is also known for making luxurious, feature-filled vehicles that we have in large supply at our Grand Rapid dealership.
