Ron Burgundy Dodge Durango Ads a Massive Hit

A couple months ago, this blog covered the Chrysler's massive advertising campaign that saw the hiring of actor Will Ferrell to reprise his role as humorous television newscaster Ron Burgundy in a series of ads for the 2014 Dodge Durango. Despite the considerable risk of bringing on a sometimes-crude actor to play a role in a film that some people are unaware of, the advertising campaign has been a massive success so far.

Here at Courtesy Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, it's fair to say that we know the Dodge Durango is a great vehicle, but we won't lie when we say that the series of hilarious ads helped build our anticipation for the vehicle. Apparently we aren't alone in our appreciation of Ferrell's comedic talents, as Advertising Age has just reported that the ad campaign has led to a 59 percent increase in October sales of the Durango and a 36 percent increase in November sales, when compared with the same months in 2012.

In total the Durango commercials have been viewed over 15.3 million times. In addition, Dodge reports that there has been an 80 percent increase in traffic to the Dodge website since the campaign has launched, which is a reflection of the associated social media campaign linked to the television ads. The campaign has also been successful for the highly-anticipated sequel to Anchorman, Anchorman 2: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
