Chrysler Group brings back one of its most revered nameplates with the introduction of the 2013 Dodge Dart, a sporty and technologically advanced compact midsize sedan that represents a huge leap forward over the 2012 Dodge Caliber model it essentially replaces. The Dart is the first Dodge vehicle to come as the fruit of Chrysler's new partnership with Fiat, and is closely based on the award-winning Italian Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
Exterior Styling: Classy and Sporty Rolled into One
The Dart's exterior is a departure from other Dodge models like the Avenger and Charger, with softer curves and a European-inspired design. That said, it's instantly recognizable as a Dodge thanks to the brand's iconic cross-bar grille. Available in SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T trim levels, each takes a slightly different approach to differentiate within the lineup between Euro luxury and all-American sport.
Powertrains: Advanced Technology Combines Power and MPG
For 2013, the Dart is available with three engine choices. Two Chrysler-developed Tigershark four-cylinder engines are joined by Fiat's advanced turbocharged four, dubbed the Multi-Air. Base models receive a 2.0-liter Tigershark making 160 horsepower, excellent for the class. Next in line is the Multi-Air turbo four with 160 horsepower but also 184 foot-pounds of torque, good for 0-60 times of around 8 seconds. The 1.4 turbo is the most fuel-efficient engine of the bunch, rated by the EPA at 27 city/39 highway mpg. A late-release Aero model will raise highway mpg to 41, one of the best numbers in the class.
The top trim level R/T model uses a larger Tigershark four-cylinder displacing 2.4 liters and making 184 horsepower and 171 foot-pounds of torque. Zero to 60 mph comes in around 7 seconds. Each engine is available with the buyer's choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Dart is notable for offering manual transmissions even at the more-luxurious trim levels, while competitors often place the row-your-own gearbox only in the stripped-down base models.
Interior Design: A Nice Place to Be
Highlighting the Dart's interior is Chrysler's optional newest-generation UConnect Touch infotainment and navigation system, with nice features like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, voice commands, and Bluetooth calling and music streaming. Smartphone integration is no problem, with automatic contact download and a text message-to-speech function with preset responses. Upscale Limited and R/T models open up the availability of attractive Nappa leather seating surfaces and trim, though the seats may be mounted too high for the tallest drivers. Contrasting-color stitching and a choice of several trim colors further makes the Dart's interior among the most attractive and comfortable in the class.
Pricing
The base Dart, with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder and manual transmission, starts at $15,995 or around the same as the Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic. Topping the range is the R/T model, starting at $22,495. According to consumer pricing data from CarsDirect.com, the Dart's average transaction price when including available option packages hovers at around $20,600.
Conclusion
With excellent fuel efficiency combined with usable everyday horsepower and a class-leading luxurious interior, the Dart is the most important model to Dodge's bottom line to release in several years. The automaker's partnership with Fiat pays off in many tangible ways, from the car's European-inspired styling to efficient turbocharged engine choice. While the outgoing Dodge Caliber compact was the butt of many a joke for its terrible efficiency and lackluster interior, the Dart improves Dodge's compact lineup in every tangible way.

As the temperature continues to rise this summer, who hasn't been in the sweltering situation of returning to your vehicle only to find that in your absence it has turned into an legitimate oven in which you could actually, if the occasion called for it, cook a four-course meal on the dashboard?
Okay, while that might be slightly exaggerated, getting into your car after it has been sitting in the hot sun all day is certainly not comfortable nor enjoyable. The good news is that there are ways to prevent and get rid of the heat that has gathered in your car to make the hottest part of your day a little more bearable.
Preventive:
Before you go anywhere there are several things that you can do to make your car cooler when you return, leaving you in a better position when trying to cool it back down quickly to the optimum driving temperature. First of all, if possible park in the shade. Under a tree, behind a wall, or in the shadow of a building as all will help keep the temperature from rising in your car. If you do have to park in the direct sun, be sure to use a sun visor in both the back and the front windshield to get maximum protection. If it is legal in your state, having your windows professionally tinted also goes a long way in keeping your car cool when your are in it or away from it. Shutting out UV rays not only protects your skin while you are driving, but also the interior of your car.
Heating Up:
Understandably, there are going to be times where you can't park in the shade, you don't put up your sun visors and the heat index outside is through the roof. So coming back to your car in a situation like that is where the real tricks to make your car cooler faster come in handy. The first thing to remember is that you want the hot air out of your car as fast as possible in order for the air conditioning to do its job effectively. To let the hot air escape, crack your windows and then set the air conditioning on fresh air (not recirculated air) and set the fan to high. Resist the urge to try and cool your face and upper body first and adjust the air to come out of the feet openings as this allows the old hot air to be pushed out quicker and new cooler air to take its place. As the hot air is removed, close the windows and adjust the air to hit your upper body and begin to cool it down. At this point, your car temperature should be tolerable and on its way to returning to normal, even when the temperature outside is at its hottest.

Electric power steering has become a fixture on many new models of cars. As with any new technology, particularly one that changes widely from the standard, this power steering technology has been surrounded by some controversy from the start. Some welcome this change for its benefits, while others point to problems that have been discovered early on. Here are some frequently asked questions about electric power steering that may help you make a decision on the car you plan on buying next.
How does electric power steering work?
Electric power steering works with an electric motor rather than a hydraulic pump. When the driver turns the wheel, the motor detects the rate of turn. A computer takes into consideration other factors such as the vehicle speed in order to determine what feedback the driver should feel in the steering wheel.
Why is electric power steering becoming more popular?
Automotive manufacturers have begun using EPS more and more in late model vehicles. There are a few simple reasons. First of all, electric power steering systems are less expensive for auto makers to build. This means more profit at less cost. Another reason for EPS popularity is that this system creates better overall fuel efficiency for a vehicle.
In vehicles in which power steering is controlled by a hydraulic pump, the pump constantly runs regardless of whether or not power steering is necessary. Constant drag on the fuel system by this hydraulic pump harms a vehicle's fuel performance. Lastly, EPS systems cut down on the number of hoses and mechanisms under the hood, simplifying the manufacturing process.
Does EPS help me at all?
For many of the same reasons that auto makers have turned to electric power steering, this system has several benefits for a car owner. Since the EPS vehicle needs no hoses or a hydraulic pump, it also requires no fluid. You won't need to worry about the power steering fluid level, or whether or not your vehicle has a leak.
A steering system that is operated by computer also has a benefit for you. As with any computer system, the EPS system on your vehicle can be adjusted. If you feel as though the power steering is somehow not working properly for you, an adjustment can be made with a computer, not a risky mechanical procedure.
Finally, the fuel economy of the EPS system makes it ideal for any car buyer. Innovations that provide higher fuel efficiency are what drive car sales while at the same time making vehicle owners happy.
Are there problems with electric power steering?
There are still issues with EPS that require some ironing out. Several auto manufacturers have issued recalls of their power steering issues after receiving numerous complaints. Some drivers report that the power steering causes the car to veer while driving at high speeds. Others have cited difficulty steering the vehicle and an occasional loss of steering ability.
Auto manufacturers are investigating the source of these problems and working to ensure safety and functionality. While there are some issues with EPS, there is no arguing that this system is steadily growing to replace the traditional hydraulic power steering.

If you are in the market for a new vehicle, you probably are hoping to get the most modern features and customizations available, provided that the price is still right. There are a number of technological advances that have become indispensable once we got a taste of them.
GPS mapping technology is one such advancement, and many Americans can scarcely remember a time when obtaining driving directions involved bulky road atlases and frequent stops to ask for help.
But what is the best option for consumers who are searching for a new vehicle and also want to get the most out of GPS technology? There are many options out there, and a wide range of pricing points, and each comes with its own unique set of advantages and disadvantages.
The first option for a new-car-buyer to consider is the factory-installed navigation systems. Factory systems have been given some bad publicity in recent years for being too costly, but manufacturers have been slashing prices recently on these optional upgrades, and there are some significant advantages that the factory models have that you cannot get in a handheld device, and for many consumers these benefits will make the modest extra costs well worth it.
Let's take a look at the advantages of the factory navigation systems:
The downsides to factory systems are mostly related to the costs, both of the feature itself and for the mapping updates that customers may choose to add over time. However, especially when considering that factory systems have been shown to help with a vehicle's resale value, the factory-systems may still come out on top when a comprehensive cost-benefit calculation has been made.
If the factory system is not for you, you have three other options:
I recommend researching the specific options for the vehicle you are considering purchasing and talk over the factory systems with your dealer. Like many consumers you may find that in the long run it is advantageous to go with the factory system.

It's bound to happen. It's most likely not a question of if, but when. Sooner or later, you'll run over a nail and be faced with the question on the spot of how to deal with it. Here's a quick series of questions you'll want to answer in the moment, and being familiar with them now may just be the thing that gets you out of a potentially sticky situation.
First, can you drive on it? After you notice the nail, check to see if the tire pressure is low or relatively unaffected by the puncture. If so, then it's safe to drive without using your spare, at least initially. But you will still want to address the damage yourself or get it to a shop as soon as possible. If you notice the tire is losing air pressure quickly, you'll want to change the tire immediately, replacing the punctured tire with your spare and getting your vehicle to a professional right away.
Second, does it need to be replaced? If you had to use the spare, it may be more likely that the nail damage is not repairable and thus requires you to replace the tire. Inspect the puncture hole closely and check to see if any ancillary damage exists. Unless the tire was allowed to deflate considerably before addressing the nail, the chances are a repair is possible and replacement tire not necessary.
Finally, can you repair it? If the nail can be removed and the hole patched, you have to decide whether you are comfortable executing the repair yourself or it you prefer to have a specialist do it for you. It can be a very inexpensive and relatively simple repair to do on your own, but each situation is different and individual comfort levels with the steps involved will vary. Either way, the nail is not going away once it lodges itself in your tire. Minimize the time you drive on a damaged tire (or spare, if not a full-sized tire), and be sure to repair or replace the tire as quickly as possible.
Somewhere along your driving journey, picking up a nail is bound to happen, no matter how careful you are about where you drive. Of course, avoiding potentially dangerous locations like construction sites or unpaved roads decrease your chances of picking up a nail in your tire, but don't entirely take it out of the realm of possibilities. Knowing what to do when this unfortunate event happens to you and your car is key keeping your frustration levels low and keeping you safe.

The Dodge Viper has become one of those modern legends, a true great. Now in its 20th year, the Detroit bruiser is back after a long absence for a fifth evolution.
The story started back in 1989 with the prototype, before Dodge unveiled two pre-production models at the infamous Indy 500 in 1991, with both being used as pace cars during the race.
Less than 12 months later and the 'RT/10', as it was known, was available for purchase sporting Dodge's own V10 that had been fettled with by Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini and made 400 bhp available at the touch of the right pedal.
Thanks to that surge of power and a massive 630 Nm of torque pushing the car along, the RT/10 managed 0-60 in just 4.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 164 mph.
However, the 'genesis' of the Vipers was far from perfect and its body design had flaws that came about by using cheaper truck parts instead of bespoke pieces that would have made for a much more capable motor.
The car was also particularly tricky to handle, had no roof, no exterior door-handles or side windows, so needed to be stored indoors at all times it wasn't in use, but it did gain a US Environmental Protection Agency rated fuel economy of 12 mpg.
The second generation, the RT/10 GTS, is one we all know for its famous double-striped dressing and ran for six years as both a coupe and a roadster and boasted a power increase of 15 bhp for the base model, whilst the full-out GTS model offered 450 bhp on tap.
The latter made for an improved 0-60 time of 4 secs and a sturdier, more rigid suspension made the Viper 25% stiffer for better handling and the revised chassis made for a 60 lbs weight loss.
Dodge released the SRT/10 in 2003 as its third evolution and offered much sharper styling and another power increase to bring a total power output of 500 bhp that could challenge some of the top supercars of the time.
Initially released strictly as a roadster, the coupe was again added to the range in its final year of production and had 10 more bhp from its 8.3 V10 and a truly monumental 725 Nm of torque to get a sub 4 secs 0-60 time.
Simple styling changes were made in 2008 for the fourth incarnation, but the engine again was uprated to an 8.4 liter 600 bhp goliath that was faster than its rivals at the time that included Detroit local the Corvette Z06, Ford GT, Porsche 911 Turbo and the new boy Audi R8.
A brand new engine management system, aptly named VENOM, was also included, as well as completely revised electrics and an updated exhaust structure.
The CEO of Dodge announced that the Viper would end production in 2010 with a planned 'Final Edition' to be the brand's swansong, with 50 examples to be produced, including the fearsome ACR model that was a true street-legal racer.
However, the Viper is now back from the dead with the now branded SRT Viper to go into production at the end of the year and promises to be quite the car.
It also looks to be a completely new beast from Dodge's prospective, with an interior bordering on being described as plush and even some stability control for the very first time on a Viper in its two decades.
Even the CEO of the brand wants the new car to be a "more forgiving car to drive and accessible to people."
The fifth installment was revealed at the New York Auto Show in April of this year and immediately impressed with its aggressive styling and staying true to its 20-year history, will feature a 640 bhp version of their 8.4 V10.
It was also announced that the Viper would be going back into racing and have a GTS-R model ready for the 2012 American Le Mans series, making for a true return for the legend.

With a hint of Italian flair, provided by FIAT's design contribution, the Dart has a dramatic exterior mixing clean lines and aggressive curves. The Dart's distinctive split cross-hair grille, also adds to its sporty character. The Dart's Charger-inspired racetrack style LED taillamp is another styling cue inspired from its Dodge heritage. Many people dread the prospect of trading in their car when they go shopping for a newer model. They fret over whether or not they'll be given a fair value for the car without really taking any steps to help the dealership give them as much money as possible. Fortunately, there are a lot of things you can do during ownership and during the trade-in process that can help you get every penny that your car is worth.
What Dealerships Look For In A Trade-In:
It's no mystery that a car dealership exists to make a profit, like any other business. They want to be able to buy cars and then sell them for more than they paid for them. They also want to treat their customers right, because they depend on repeat and referral customers to stay in business. They don't want you to just be satisfied with the experience; they want you to have had a fantastic experience so you'll tell all your friends and family how well they treated you. To that end, here's how you can help a dealership give you more money for your trade-in.
#1 Take care of your car: This should seem like common sense, but you may be amazed at how many people don't change their oil on time, never rotate their tires, only wash their car by leaving it out in the rain, and in general, let their car slowly turn into a stinky, beat up mess. Starting from day one of ownership, take all the steps you need to keep your car looking and running smoothly. An advantage of buying from a dealership is that you can usually purchase maintenance plans at discounted rates to take care of your oil changes and regular maintenance. That can save you a lot of money over the course of ownership as well as make it very easy and convenient to make sure your car stays up to date on service, maintenance, and any recalls that need to be performed.
#2 Keep accurate records: Only slightly less important than taking care of your car is keeping track of what you do. When an appraiser looks at a possible trade-in, he is figuring out what they would need to spend on a car to have it ready to sell. If you can show him that the maintenance is current that is one more thing he can check off his list of possible expenses. Again, an advantage of doing your maintenance at one spot, like a dealership service department, is that they will keep track of everything for you, and can give you a copy at your request.
#3 Timing & Term: It is a cold hard fact that your car value drops as soon as you drive it off the lot, yet there still seems to be a group of people who think they can buy a car and try to trade it in two months later when they decide they need a car with the latest and greatest gadget. They are usually very disappointed in their trade evaluation, because only two months earlier they paid much more than they are being offered. Don't let yourself fall into this trap! When you buy a car, buy one that you will enjoy driving and that will meet your needs, and then keep it for the next 3-4 years.
#4 Know your car's value: There are a lot of sources that will tell you what a car is supposed to be worth, and unfortunately, they very rarely agree with each other. Your bank or credit union will tell you one thing, blue books, black books, market reports, etc, all will put different figures on your car's value. The best way to see exactly what your car is worth in your area is to see what similar models are selling for. Go to websites like Autotrader.com or Cars.com and search for cars like yours ? come as close as you can in make, model, miles, package, and condition. See what they're being sold for. That will give you an idea as to what retail value on your car may be.
Now that you've taken good care of your car, have your maintenance records, have an idea as to what similar cars are being sold for, and have found the new car you want, you have a few options. You can find a private buyer for your car ? you will almost always get more money than you would in a trade, but there are downsides. You will have to negotiate with any interested party; they may want you to do some repairs or touch up work, or replace tires or other parts, and they may delay your next purchase if they have to line up financing. What you need to decide is how much your time is worth. Is your time, effort, and stress worth the difference between what you can sell the car for and what your trade-in value is?
If you decide that trading in your car is the way to go, there is one last step. Finding a dealership that you enjoy working with will not only save you headache and hassles, but they will also be more inclined to give you more money for your trade-in if they've gotten to know you as a repeat customer. Buying and trading a car can be a fun, easy, and win-win experience!

Gas prices continue to rise as we head towards summer, and we are all looking for ways to get better fuel efficiency out of our cars. With gas mileage, small changes can make a big difference that adds up over time. Listed below are 11 ideas to help you stretch your dollar at the gas pump so you can still hit the open road without it hurting too much.
1. Drive a fuel efficient vehicle. A brand new Prius may not be the answer for everyone, but if you are in the market for a new car, fuel economy is getting better and better, and should be an important factor to consider in your next purchase.
2. Avoid rough roads. Driving on roads like dirt and gravel can decrease your miles per gallon by almost 30%. Stick to roads that are paved and smooth, which is not only easier on your shocks but on your wallet as well.
3. Maintain your car. A car that is running properly isn't going to waste gas and will be more efficient all around. Regular maintenance might seem like a pain and an added expense at the time, but over time will save you money.
4. Keep your tires properly inflated. All it takes is a quick stop at the air tank to make sure that your tires are inflated to the right amount, getting you better gas mileage and keeping you safer while driving.
5. Avoid rush hour. The constant stop and go traffic is killer on your gas mileage. If you can, try and travel during non-peak hours to maximize use of your fuel.
6. Consolidate your trips. Picking up the kids from school, running to the grocery store and dropping off the dry cleaning can all be done in one trip, if you plan accordingly. Managing to put several small trips together into one big trip can improve your gas mileage too.
7. Lighten your load. Is your trunk full of stuff that you never use? Make it a point to take out stuff that you don't use to decrease what your car has to haul around on a daily basis.
8. Reduce drag. Take off your ski racks, bike racks, and luggage racks when you aren't using them.
9. Use the cruise control. A consistent speed will do wonders for your gas mileage and it is easiest to achieve when the cruise control is on.
10. Don't idle. It turns out that you get zero miles per gallon when you are idling, so just shut off your car if you need to be sitting instead of driving.
11. Shop around for the cheapest gas. There are lots of places online that you can check for the cheapest gas in your neighborhood, so when you fill up you can get the best jump on saving money.

Courtesy Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is celebrating the milestone of 46 uninterrupted years of being a family owned and operated business serving the West Michigan area.
The dealership has come a long way, starting its journey with Red Betten, the original owner's purchase of Northfield Dodge on Plainfield Avenue. This was followed by the dealership's move to our current location on 28th street, with the purchase of Wonderland Dodge. To become a full Genesis dealer, Mr Betten bought Highland Chrysler, combining all four brands under one roof. The changes continued, with our recent major showroom renovation, and the incorporation of the ultra-convenient Express Lane in the Service Department, just to name a few.
Our business has persevered through hard times with our nation's economy and Chrysler's financial troubles, and we're grateful that after all these years we're still able to pursue our company's passion for pairing the people of West Michigan with their dream cars.
Courtesy would not be what it is today without our dedicated workers, from sales to service, to everything in between! Their hard work and kindness creates a family atmosphere that has set us apart from our local competitors. Get to know our current staff on Courtesy.com, or come on in to say 'Hi!'
We want to say thank you to all the customers who made these last 46 years possible. To celebrate a nearly half century of serving West Michigan's Chrysler vehicle needs, Courtesy is hosting a 46th Anniversary Sale! To get all the details, visit us at www.Courtesy.com. Here's to the next 46 years!

Who doesn't love packing up the car and hitting the road for a nice long road trip every summer? As the calendar inches towards summer and the beach starts calling your name, mentally planning your next road trip during endless meetings just can't be helped. Not to put a damper on your master summer plan, but as gas prices continue to rise, the famous road trip might be losing some of its luster, shine and economy in the eyes of the consumer. Luckily for the road warrior, there are quite a few little changes that you can make that will make a big difference in the amount you shell out for gas over the years. Some say that high gas prices are here to stay, so the sooner you can put into practice these three easy tips, the better!
Drive a fuel efficient vehicle
Driving that gas guzzler from the 1990's or 80's isn't going to save you any money at the pump, but you don't have to swing to the other extreme and head out to buy a brand new Prius to notice a difference in what you spend on gas. Electric, hybrid, or even just a newer vehicle can change the amount of money you spend each week at the pump. There is constantly advancing technology in new cars that is making even regular gas powered cars more fuel efficient than in the past. Cost calculators even help you figure out your "break even" point for buying a new car and getting the money back in savings on gas.
Maintain your car
It might seem painful at the time to hand over the credit card, but undoubtedly regular maintenance over time will save you money. Doing things like keeping your tires properly inflated and changing your oil regularly are easy things to do. Taking the time to stop at the air tank to make sure that your tires are inflated to the right amount is a simple thing that can make a difference in the life of your tires and the quality of your ride. When it comes to changing your oil, you can pay someone to do it (usually with a coupon) or even learn how to do it yourself.
Think before you drive
When thinking about where you need to go in your car, planning ahead and consolidating trips is always a money saver. Headed to the farmer's market, the dry cleaners and the coffee shop? Planning out your route to avoid back tracking by putting several small trips together into one big trip just requires a little thought before you go. When you are doing daily errands, remember to make it a point to take out all that stuff that tends to consolidate in the back seat and trunk, in order to lighten your load. There isn't any use carrying around unnecessary equipment either. Things like skis, bike, boat and luggage racks should be taken off when they aren't in use to reduce drag and add money to your wallet.

Everyone loves a good comeback.
The recent "60 Minutes" segment, "Resurrecting Chrysler," chronicles the ultimate automaker comeback story. From Chrysler's decline, to its purchase by FIAT, loan payback, and now its profit and brand revival leading into its promising future.
The piece is also an in-depth look into the man widely credited with Chrysler's re-invention: FIAT CEO Sergio Marchioone. "60 Minutes" looks at Marchionne from both a personal and professional viewpoint.
General Manager, Ed Buck, from Courtesy Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Grand Rapids, MI was practicularly impressed by Marchionne's unorthodox management skills, choosing to work on the same floor as his engineers, rather than in a removed 'higher' office.
"What a great interview! You can see why Mr. Marchionne is such an effective and successful leader," Ed commented. "In his words, 'I can build a car with just the guys on this floor, and that's all I care about". He might not be much of a "late night guy' as he said, but he is one incredible business man."
Marchionne achieved the company's dramatic turnaround by investing in the modernization of Chrysler's factories, upgrading 16 of the existing models, and integrating Chrysler and FIAT's operations.
"It's been a long, rocky road, but the fear is gone," Marchionne told CBS's "60 Minutes."
For Marchionne, the pairing of FIAT and Chrysler strengthened both companies by allowing each to offer a more complete product line. As the video surmises, Chrysler has its strengths in Jeeps, minivans and light trucks, while FIAT's assets lay in small-car technology, and fuel-efficient engines: the exact ingredients that were missing from Chrysler's industrial-recipe.
The first true testament to this perfect pairing will be the 2013 Dodge Dart, based on FIAT's Alfa Romeo Giulietta, but re-engineered and built right here in the United States.
The Dart is not only a crucial representation of the company's new strengths, but an important potential lifeline for the automaker, making its presence felt in the compact sedan category, something Chrysler has been missing for more than a decade. And with 40 mpg and a starting price tag of $16,000, the Dart is a new kid on the block to be reckoned with.

Scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the second quarter of this year, the Dodge Dart was already poised to be the poster-child for Chrysler's resurgence. Now with this on-the-go charging system, the Dart will stand even further apart from its competitors in the compact sedan segment.
The charger is located in a 8.27-inches by 9.5-inches by 3.25-inches 'power bin' at the front center of the lower console area. To initiate a charge, the user simply has to place a compatible device in the bin. This easy-to-use and extremely convenient system is compatible with iPhone, Blackberry, MP3 players and Droid-based devices.
Mopar in-vehicle wireless charging will be available for $199.99, plus installation fees. Get more information on Courtesy.com: http://www.courtesy.com/parts/index.htm

Once you've decided it's time for tires, you will be faced with the decision of whether or not to buy tires locally or online. You should consider several things before purchasing these tires, however. This can include pricing and safety amongst many other things. Tires are a big expense, so they should be researched before being purchased. The list below gives you some suggestions and guidelines as to what you should be looking for when considering certain tires.
1) Understand Tire basics: Tires are built from the inside out. They have about 20 different components that make them unique. Tread patterns are found on the outside of the tires and ultimately determine gripping action. The dynamics of a tire will, for the most part, be described in the coding on the tire, but there are a few other characteristics to pay close attention to.
2) Consider where you drive: If you drive in harsh winter conditions that may mean you need a winter/snow tire. Think about where most of your driving is done and then move to the next step. A good determinant of this is the owner's manual: The manufacturer of the car you are driving will have a recommended size and type of tire that works best with the car you have.
3) Where will you buy your tires? You will have the choice of buying your tires at a store or online. There are certainly advantages and disadvantages to both.
4) All-Season Tire: This is the most common type of tire and usually what comes on a car you buy. It is made for all driving conditions and seasons.
5) Think about your current tire: Research the tire you are currently using. Has it been reliable? Look at the tire code on your current car. Know what these numbers mean before you go to buy new cars. They are coded to help identify particular tires.
6) Consider an eco-friendly approach: A tire that is eco-friendly is beneficial to the environment. However, the drive and feel of these tires may be slightly different.
You don't want to spend too much on tires just like you don't want to purchase tires that don't suit your style or car. Also, if you get tires that are not the correct size, this will ultimately mean replacing them again. Studying up on the tires you will buy will save you time, stress and money. It can be overwhelming and confusing walking into a tire store or logging on to a tire website. Knowing beforehand what you want and need will be beneficial to your time, money and health of your car.

Chrysler is adjusting its certified pre-owned program (CPO) to include a wider variety of used vehicles from different automakers. This will benefit used-car buyers, by providing a larger selection of makes and models that will be sold and protected under the Chrysler Group warranty.
When a used vehicle is part of the Chrysler CPO program, it undergoes a detailed inspection process and if the required quality standards are met, the vehicle is protected under the Chrysler Group warranty.
Chrysler's new program, Diversified Certified, will allow vehicles from other automakers to be covered under this warranty, extending the peace of mind that comes with buying a certified used Chrysler to cars from different manufacturers.
The Diversified Certified program is expected to hit local dealerships this May. Vehicles eligible for certification include models that have less than 48,000 miles and are from 2008 or newer.

Maintenance and servicing are crucial when you own a car. An automobile will run longer when you take care of it. In order for a vehicle to run properly, it must go through a series of routine maintenance procedures. Taking care of your automobile determines how well it runs and how safe it is. The parts of a vehicle that need monitoring and maintenance regularly include the oil, tire rotations, air filters and tire pressure. Knowing why your vehicle needs maintenance will help you realize the importance of having it serviced regularly.
Oil:
Having your oil changed is like hydrating your automobile. It is crucial. The owner's manual will suggest how often an oil change is needed but the typical length falls between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. Doing so will prevent the buildup of grime and sludge. Oil in an automobile lubricates the engine and each of its parts. That way the cars likelihood of wear and tear decreases. When a car is properly maintained it can prevent the automobile from overheating. The decrease of friction between the car parts helps prevent the car from overheating. Oil also removes debris that may end up in the actual cab of the car.
Tire Rotation:
Rotations should be done about every 7,000 miles. When you rotate your tires you are actually moving the tires on the car from one position to another. You rotate them to make sure there is even wear on both sides of the tire. You will want this even wear on both sides of the tires so that the car performs consistently. The tread on the tires becomes weary when you neglect to do this.
Tire Pressure:
This is the most important for your safety. When tire pressure is too low or too high it can change how the car turns and how it breaks. This can also lead to a tire blowout. When the tire pressure is way too high in one tire, it doesn't touch the ground like it should. This changes the way the car rides. When it is too low it is just the opposite, too much of the tire touches the ground. Checking this saves you time and money in maintaining a healthy and safe car. But more than that, it can save your life.
Air Filter:
Look at the air filter during every oil change. If there is visible grunge or dirt on the filter it may be time to replace it. The manual for your car will suggest how often it should be replaced and also whether or not the type of filter you have is prone to pick up dirt and debris. The air filters purpose is to filter the passing air through the engine into the vehicle, while keeping it clean. It keeps the inside of your car clean rather than allowing dust and dirt through.
Car maintenance should become a routine. It needs to be done on a regular basis. As a reminder, auto and maintenance shops will often place a sticker on your windshield to remind you when you should come back. To keep an automobile running properly, car maintenance is key. Car accidents and automobile issues can be a large and unplanned financial drain. Thinking and planning ahead will save you from this trouble and stress in the future. You can also expect your automobile to perform better.

Chrysler 200 S:

Founded in 1925 by Walter P. Chrysler, the Chrysler Corporation, now known as the Chrysler Group, has grown into one of the most popular car manufacturers in the world. Over the years, they have gone from strength to strength, manufacturing cars that are known for their reliability and superiority. One of their latest releases includes the all-new 2012 Chrysler 200.
Performance and Specifications
Two engine options grace the 2012 Chrysler 200. They include a 283-horsepower V6 and a somewhat more modest 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder option that offers 173-horsepower under its hood. While both offer a somewhat comfortable ride, many test drivers prefer the V6 option, stating that it offers far better performance than its 2.4-liter counterpart. According to many test drivers, the V6 does have the downside of inducing torque steer at higher speeds. Tests have also revealed that the Chrysler 200 offers far better handling than that of its predecessor, the Sebring.
Fuel Economy
With the ever rising cost of fuel these days, fuel economy is one of the most important deciding factors when purchasing a vehicle, be it new or used. The four-cylinder, four-speed automatic Chrysler 200 offers around 21 mpg for city driving and approximately 30 mpg on the highway. Opting for the six-speed automatic in this range will see that you get around 20 mpg for city driving and up to 31 mpg for highway cruising. The more powerful V6 model, available in both sedan and convertible styles, results in approximately 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the open road. Opting for the V6 model in the convertible range will yield slightly better results at 19 mpg on city roads and around 29 mpg on the highway.
Safety Features
The 2012 Chrysler 200 received a four-star safety rating for front crash tests, as well as rollover tests. Three stars were awarded for side crash tests. These results however, do not apply to the convertible models, as they have not yet been tested. Side, front and curtain airbags are standard on all models, along with active headrests and ABS braking systems. Rear-view cameras and blind-spot detection options have not yet been added to the Chrysler 200's list of safety features. Due to the vehicle's thick rear pillars, some drivers have reported blind spot issues at the rear of the vehicle. Traction control is a standard offering on all of the Chrysler 200 models.
Overall, the 2012 Chrysler 200 may not be the best value when compared to other popular vehicles in the midsize car class. Many test drivers have stated that its weaknesses seem to outweigh its strengths, and that it wouldn't be their first choice when purchasing a new midsize vehicle. In particular, drivers who are looking for a vehicle with an excellent mpg rating may have better options, as the Chrysler 200 is not likely to win any awards for fuel economy. Still, the Chrysler 200's sleek, sophisticated design may appeal to drivers seeking a winning combination of sex appeal and reliability.

1) Quadra Lift
An innovative air-suspension, dubbed Quadra-Lift, is one of the keys to the Grand Cherokee's versatility. The system utilizes pressurized air from a reservoir in order to lift the front and rear air springs, raising the vehicle up to 2.6 inches from its normal height of 8.1 inches for optimal ground clearance and off-road performance. Quadra-Lift can also lower the suspension for sportier handling, better aerodynamics and increased fuel efficiency, while in its standard mode the system is excellent at masking road imperfections to create a refined and luxurious ride.
2) Multi-Displacement Hemi V8
Hemi V8's have been known for supreme power for decades, and the variant under the Grand Cherokee's hood doesn't disappoint: with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, there's ample thrust for any situation. However, when all that power isn't needed, the big V8 has a Multi-Displacement System that automatically deactivates four cylinders in order to save fuel. The switch from eight to four cylinders is electronically controlled, smooth and takes just 0.04 seconds.
3) Sumptuous Interior
With a French-stitched leather console and genuine wood trim, the Grand Cherokee has received a number of awards for its impressive new cabin. Fit and finish is excellent, and soft-touch materials abound for a particularly rich feeling. Optional features like a panoramic sunroof and 506 watt Alpine Stereo make for a truly sybaritic environment.
4) Robust Towing
For all its refinement, the Grand Cherokee is no slouch when it comes to demanding tasks like towing. When equipped with the Hemi V8 and the trailer tow package, it can tow up to 7400 pounds, a testament both to the power of its engine and the rigidity of its frame. Additionally, a Trailer Sway Control system can automatically senses dangerous trailer sway and take action by automatically applying the right amount of braking to maintain control.
5) Forward Collision Warning System
Research conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that almost 30 percent of the total crashes reported to police each year in the U.S. were from rear-end collisions. However, another study concluded that 1.5 seconds of additional warning could prevent up to 90-percent of rear-end collisions. To try to give drivers an extra heads-up, Jeep developed the Forward Collision Warning System, which uses radar sensors to detect when the Grand Cherokee may be approaching another vehicle too rapidly. The system then alerts driver with an audible chime.

Gamers, step away from your controllers: Jeep and Activision are joining forces once more for a second Call of Duty Jeep.
In 2011, the Call of Duty franchise teamed up with Jeep for a game-inspired Black Ops Wrangler. Now Jeep has a new special edition just in time for the release of the much-anticipated Modern Warfare 3.
Although the real world you'll be driving your Jeep through will be hopefully much less 'exciting' than the hazardous war zone of the game, the Wrangler is loaded with some impressive off-road features. It's equipped with 32-inch tires, a power hood dome and new special edition features including live axles, a two-speed transfer case and locking differentials for both the front and rear.
The Modern Warfare Wrangler also comes equipped with some major Mopar additions, including a heavy-duty front bumper with an optional winch, revised rear bumper, rock rails and more.
What makes the special edition truly stand out are its Call of Duty graphics on the spare tire cover, front fenders, embroidered seats, and our personal favorite: a special, serialized dashboard-plaque, (watch the video below for a look at the interior.)
The MW3 Wrangler will be released in both black or silver editions, with the option of either two or four-door body styles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and the Jeep it inspired will both be released in November.

Chrysler and Eminem are teaming up once again to not only incite passion for Detroit, but actually raise money for local Detroit charities in order to have a positive impact in the Motor City community.
Chrysler's commitment to the revitalization of Detroit has evolved from its pro-Detroit advertising campaign, to its "Imported from Detroit" merchandise and is now revving up once more with its new "Imported from Detroit" project.
The project is a web collaboration with the company 8 Mile Style that manages Eminem's song rights. With the slogan "Never Give Up. Always Give Back," the IFD Project will help promote Detroit events and continue the Chrysler legacy of supporting local charities.
Eminem originally lent his starpower, Detroit roots and "Lose Yourself" single to the "Born of Fire" Super Bowl ad that sparked the initial "Imported from Detroit" campaign for Chrysler.
Now Eminem is back, but in a different way.
The rap artist's song, "Lose Yourself," now synonymous with Chrysler and Detroit, has been re-imagined by the "Selected of God" gospel choir who were previously featured in their own "Imported from Detroit" spot.
The re-interpreted "Lose Yourself" is meant not just as an inspirational power-ballad, but as an actual way to raise funds for charity organizations in the community. The gospel version of "Lose Yourself" is available for download on iTunes with all of its proceeds going toward three Detroit charities: Abayomi Community Development Corporation, The Yunion and Robert S. Shumake Scholarship Foundation.

Chrysler has just moved into the fast lane with the announcement of the rejuvenation of their Street and Racing Technology (SRT) brand.
Until now, the SRT portion of the Chrysler brand has been essentially an internal engineering program. It was originally launched in 2002 at the North American International Auto Show(NAIAS) as a new line for producing "industry-leading performance vehicles and parts."
Now Chrysler is ready to re-imagine its SRT division as its own separate brand and they have handed the reins over to Ralph Gilles. The title of president and CEO of Chrysler's SRT brand will be added to his other labels: president and CEO of Dodge and senior vice president of product design for Chrysler.
The SRT brand will focus on low-volume, high-performance vehicles. Currently the only SRT available is the Dodge Challenger SRT8, but Chrysler fans will not have too long to wait for new models. Beginning this fall, 2012 SRT models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Chrysler 300 SRT8 and the Dodge Charger SRT8 will all be released.

Chrysler in the Kitchen: SyFy's Quantum Kitchen in Detroit

In the episode, Vigneron, of Top Chef fame, travels to Detroit and serves up a complex dinner for a diverse blend of Chrysler employees. Also present were a dozen students from Detroit's College of Creative Studies who collaborated with Chrysler designers for a semester-long project on car models that were present at the dinner. The culinary event took place in none other than the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Vigneron specializes in molecular-gastronomy where a combination of art and science can result in wildly unique culinary creations. Therefore, it's no surprise that the meal with a Chrysler 200 theme took three days to create and was futuristic in nature. The four-course meal for 32 featured car-shaped desserts and a fish course that created its own 'psychedelic art' while being consumed.
Chef Vigneron is a self-proclaimed "car guy" who grew up attending car shows and driving at the Jim Hall racing school. During his visit to the Motor City, Vigneron took the Chrysler 200 for a test drive on the evaluation course. While touring the Chrysler design studios, he discussed the creative process behind automobile design, making parallels with his own world of culinary creativity.

New Beats by Dre Chrysler Audio System
Chrysler has recruited Eminem's mentor Dr. Dre to take the 2012 300 S to the next level of luxury.
Beats by Dr. Dre, a new studio-quality audio system, is the result of the Chrysler partnership and the latest addition to the new 300 model. The collaboration of music producer Dre, Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and a team of Chrysler engineers is what it took to make the 'Beats' audio system a reality.
This exclusive partnership is some of the most exciting news to come out of the Chrysler portion of the 2011 New York Auto Show where it was announced on Wednesday. Chrysler sees this as a way to raise the overall bar for car audio systems. At the auto show, Interscope's Iovine spoke of the 'Beats' system finally reconciling vehicle audio technology with the way that music should be listened to for full enjoyment.

The 2012 300 S will be in dealerships this fall. Dr. Dre will also be featured in upcoming "Imported From Detroit" Chrysler commercials.

Jeep enthusiasts rejoice: The brand's 70th Anniversary has inspired an exhibit at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum.
The exhibit 70 Years of Jeep celebrates the beloved brand and its evolution from military vehicle to one of the auto industry's brand-darlings.
Starting April 19th and running through December, the Chrysler museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan will be home to the exhibit that will feature a classic, yet rare Jeep model: Willys MA78621.
Just how rare you ask? The car is one of only 45 known models stemming from the benchmark year of 1941. Jeep fans will cringe at the thought that this particular model was found rotting in a field near Fort Lewis. It was restored in 2002 and was believed to be one of 4 MA's shipped to Fort Lewis for testing by the 15th Infantry.

Detroit, poised to be the new comeback kid of American cities, goes by many names: Motown, Motor City, Hockeytown. And now, the city that represents the heart-and-soul of the American Auto Industry is embarking on a new era of civic pride and positive public relations, mostly thanks to the Chrysler brand.
Chrysler's "Imported From Detroit" campaign was pushed into national consciousness with its Eminem-embellished Super Bowl commercial and has maintained momentum with a series of YouTube videos featuring local heros that represent the dedication and spirit of the city.
Now Chrysler has taken the campaign to the next level by utilizing its "Imported From Detroit" brand with merchandise that allows people to express their passion for Detroit, no matter what nickname they think fits it best.
Some of the brand's most popular merchandise includes tasteful posters brandishing the "Imported From Detroit" motto along with iconic images representing the past, present and future of Detroit's potential. The limited edition poster series are also a tangible effort towards rebuilding Detroit because a portion of the proceeds from each $25 poster goes toward local charities.

Read more on GRAutoBlog.comHere are two great things we here at GRAutoBlog can get behind: supporting our troops and listening to great music.
You can do both thanks to Dodge Ram's "Letters for Lyrics" program.
It's a simple enough idea: Write a supportive letter to the troops, (thank you for your service, come home soon, etc.) and in return you receive an exclusive compilation album featuring Southern Ground artists: Zac Brown Band, Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan, Levi Lowrey.
Sometimes even the most civically-minded people need a reminder to show our gratitude for the US troops and all their self-less work both overseas and closer to home.
Ram's "Letters for Lyrics" program with a little help from the Grammy-award winning Zac Brown Band does just that.
Even if the music isn't your style, we hope that supporting the troops is, so put your thankful pen to paper and turn your letter into a Dodge Ram dealership to receive the free Breaking Southern Ground album.

Emerging from the shadow of Ram's "Adventurer" prototype, the freshly-named '1500 Express' has finally come into the light.
The buzz about the Express, greatly welcomed by sports-truck enthusiasts, is that it is a vehicle with a powerful engine that will not overpower your wallet. The truck boasts a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine with an impressive 20 mpg rating, 390 horsepower and a hefty 407 lb.-ft. of torque.
Ram is hoping that its new shortbox pickup will make good on its aptly-named moniker of 'Express' in the way that consumer self-'Express'ion can be fully realized by its simple design that lends itself easily to customization.
The base price for the Express is a reasonable $23,830 making it a smart choice for young first-time car buyers. This price-tag includes destination charges and leaves ample room for a multitude of custom additions and available Moparproducts.
This model's production has been catalyzed by the positive response of the Ram Tradesman pickup truck, another no-nonsense model revealed at Chicago's Auto Show in February.
Visit your local Ram dealership for further details and to soon check out a Ram 1500 Express for yourself.
Chrysler Group's Mopar parts and service division is ratcheting up efforts to get more dealers to open service departments on Saturday.
Starting in January, Mopar will open all of its 20 North American parts distribution centers on Saturdays. In April, Mopar launched Saturday hours for its help desk so dealership service technicians could call with questions about repair issues.
Saturday hours can boost revenues for dealers--and Mopar. Coupled with Mopar's Express Lane oil change service, Saturday hours help dealers compete in a marketplace crowded with quick lube and light maintenance shops that stay open all weekend. Chrysler estimates there are 37 such independent shops competing with each dealership.
Chrysler says 69 percent of its dealers were open Saturday as of Oct. 31, up from 60 percent at the beginning of the year.
Chrysler used a little psychology to help persuade dealers of the wisdom of staying open on Saturday. Last spring, field office workers went into the field with cameras.
"We used the tactic of taking pictures showing the competition open on Saturday," said Jim Sassorossi, Mopar's director of sales. Those photos of Dodges, Chryslers and Jeeps up on Jiffy Lube hoists got some dealers thinking.
Also, Mopar is offering dealers who stay open Saturday a small percentage of co-op advertising funds to advertise their service departments.
Second try
Brent Locey, director of fixed operations at Courtesy Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge in Grand Rapids, Mich., said he tried Saturday service about five years ago, but it didn't work.
"We staffed it wrong, and we did not have support from factory. We were only open four hours."
This time, Locey said, Saturday service ramped up quickly since he began Saturday operations in October.
"It's really becoming a sixth workday. When it's staffed right and you have the right hours and the right people, you can really make it happen."
Now Courtesy's service department is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Locey says he already is doing about 70 percent of the business of a normal weekday.
"The first weekend we worked on 18 cars; this past weekend we worked on 55. On a regular day we write up 80 to 100. My objective is to mirror a regular workday."
